Lord of the Flies
by William Golding
The author’s aim to trace the defect of society back to the defect of human nature is told in this tale about a group of British schoolboys marooned on a tropical island. The boys attempt to forge their own society, failing, however, in the face of terror, sin, and evil. The story reminds us of the end of innocence and the darkness of man’s heart.
Guys of all ages will enjoy it but it might be too intense for preteens.
