Put words in my mouth from Your throne

In recent months, I’ve experienced a change in my discipline of prayer.  I realized that I was doing all the talking when I prayed.  So I asked God to put words in my mouth from His throne.  I suddenly began reading His Word in a different way.  Scripture “spoke” to me – after all, the Holy Scriptures are Words from His throne.

Some verses had an unbearable appeal and I found that I could memorize or at least know them better.  I started repeating those words back to God or turning to a few key verses and reading them back to Him.  He had, indeed, put words in my mouth from His throne.  As a bonus, I now feel like I am dialoguing with God rather than boring Him with a repetitive monologue, and all day long at that.

Many in my church are reading through the Bible this year (2013).  I’ve encouraged them and I encourage you to ask God to put words in your mouth from His throne.  You might just find your reading having an unbearable appeal, too.
